Film Screenings: "After Effects" at Artis Cinema

Center for Contemporary Art, Estonia and Art in General (New York) invite you to a screening series titled After Effects, which presents recent video works by contemporary artists from New York and beyond. The focus of the series is on digital culture and the effects of technologies on contemporary society. 

After Effects is curated by Executive Director and Curator of Art in General, Laurel Ptak, who in her selection of works has emphasized the dialectical tension in our current relationship to technology. While created in the name of progress to attend to our human desires, how do objects, interfaces, processes, aesthetics and norms ultimately reshape these desires, and—in turn—reshape us?

The curator of the screening series Laurel Ptak will present a brief introduction to the program and artists.

Artists: Zach Blas, Tyler Coburn, João Enxuto, Erica Love, Pedro Neves Marques, Wyatt Niehaus, Elizabeth Orr, Sondra Perry, Jemima Wyman.

Art in General is a nonprofit contemporary art organization that assists artists with the production and presentation of new work. Center for Contemporary Arts Estonia (CCAE), founded in 1992, is a non-profit expert institution in international cooperation projects with a role to activate and develop Estonian contemporary art scene. Since 1999 CCAE is the commissioner of the Estonian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and since 2016 co-commissioner of Baltic Triennial. CCAE works on collaborative projects both with local and international partners.
