EVENT ON FACEBOOK
We welcome you to the opening of the exhibition on November 1 at 7pm. Half an hour before the opening at 6.30pm you are in front of the Explorer office building (Kai 1) where the artwork "Soft grotesque" by Brit Pavelson and Sissela Jensen will be introduced.
The exhibition "A-tishoo, A-tishoo, We All Fall Down" deals with dread and hopelessness. It reflects a self-destructive situation where the man-made world is turning on us in an increasingly forceful way. With the participating artists of the exhibition, a journey is created, guided by uncertainty about what lies ahead.
For the first time, the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) is curating collectively to bring together different experiences and ways of thinking, to save resources and reduce overproduction. The exhibition includes the artists Ivana Bašić, Pakui Hardware, Anu Juurak, Jussi Kivi, Raul Keller, Johanna Maria Parv, Hanna Samoson, Emilija Škarnulytė, Peeter Ulas, Brit Pavelson and Sissela Jensen, Aaloe-Ader-Flo-Künnap-Soosalu. Events accompanying the exhibition are created by Mare Tralla and the Üle Prahi group.
The exhibition is split between EKKM, the city space and a programme of events.
The exposition at EKKM includes completely new works (Jussi Kivi), works exhibited in Estonia for the first time (Ivana Bašić, Pakui Hardware, Jussi Kivi, Johanna Maria Parv, Emilija Škarnulytė), as well as works that have been made for previous exhibitions but have been given a new context and meaning (Anu Juurak, Peeter Ulas, Hanna Samoson).
In the city space, you can see an animated photo collage by Brit Pavelson and Sissela Jensen on the screen of the Explorer office building (Kai 1), the work O by the Aaloe-Ader-Flo-Künnap-Soosalu group in various locations across Tallinn, and Raul Keller's installation Girl in the Sewer in a storm drain in front of the EKKM.
The programme of events accompanying the exhibition enquires if there is a way out of this hopeless situation. The possibility of activism and resistance in a society in crisis is a starting point for events created by Mare Tralla (November 5 and 6) and the Üle Prahi group (November 1). During the exhibition, on November 20, a book launch is held for Active Art, edited by Joachim Hamou, Maija Rudovska and Barbara Sirieix.
